Rev. Bonney was called to the Preaching Ministry in November 1974. He formerly pastored the Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Bonney has been a member of the Pleasant Green M B Church since 1982. In November 2003, Rev. Ray C. Bonney became the seventh Pastor in the 97 year history of the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church after the retirement of

Pastor Steve C. Chew. Rev. Bonney also serves as Moderator for the Baptist Brotherhood District Association of Churches and an instructor in Baptist General State Convention Congress of Christian Education. He is a member of the Chicago HIV/Aids pastoral care network. Christmas Day 2022, Rev. Bonney preached his last sermon as Senior Pastor.
